Caleb University Names Pastor Mrs Folu Adeboye as Chancellor

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the university’s Information Media and Publication Specialist, Olawale Adekoya. The university said the decision followed shortly after Mrs Adeboye received an honorary Doctor of Humanity degree at Caleb University’s 15th convocation ceremony.

In the statement, the university described the honorary doctorate as recognition of what it called a long-standing commitment to education, mentoring young people, promoting strong family values, and supporting moral development. The institution also explained that the chancellorship role is not just ceremonial in its system of governance.

It said the Chancellor represents the university’s guiding ethos, presides over convocations, confers degrees, protects traditions, and provides moral authority that supports the institution’s strategic direction.

The statement added that by choosing Mrs Adeboye, the university was placing emphasis on character and values alongside academic excellence.

Caleb University Vice Chancellor, Professor Olalekan Asikhia, also reacted to the development, describing it as a significant moment in the institution’s growth. He said the appointment strengthens the university’s founding philosophy and aligns with the values the school aims to uphold.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Mrs Adeboye’s personal reputation reflects the institution’s creed, which he described as discipline without harshness, authority without arrogance, and influence without showiness. He added that at a time when many institutions struggle to balance excellence with ethics, her presence in the university’s ceremonial leadership offers reassurance and a standard to aspire to.
