Celebrities Who Escaped Death on Nigerian Roads

Road accidents remain a major danger on Nigerian highways. Every year, many lives are lost to accidents caused by speeding, bad roads, reckless driving, and poorly maintained vehicles. Still, some popular Nigerians have survived crashes that could have ended in tragedy.

Here are some celebrities who have escaped death on Nigerian roads:

Anthony Joshua

Boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on December 29, 2025. Reports said the Lexus SUV he was travelling in crashed around midday. Joshua was rescued and taken for medical attention. However, two passengers in the vehicle were reported dead. The Ogun State Government confirmed the incident and sent condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

Harrysong

Afropop singer Harrysong survived a car accident on June 24, 2016, while travelling from Owerri to Lagos for a performance. He later shared the experience online, saying it was a close call and thanking God for sparing his life.

Burna Boy

Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy was involved in a car accident on February 26, 2022, in Lekki, Lagos. He reportedly suffered only minor injuries. After the incident, he reacted online, saying he was surprised that many people were more interested in filming than helping.

Dunsin Oyekan

Gospel minister Dunsin Oyekan also survived a major crash on September 3, 2022, while travelling from Lagos to Ibadan. Reports said no one died, although a member of his crew had minor injuries. Oyekan later described it as a miracle and said their vehicle went under a trailer.

Sensational Bamidele

Gospel singer and bandleader Bamidele Adeek, popularly known as Sensational Bamidele, survived a head-on collision in Rivers State in December 2022. Reports said the vehicle carrying his team somersaulted several times. He later credited their survival to divine intervention.

CDQ

Rapper CDQ was involved in a car crash in Lagos on August 15, 2023. He shared videos from the scene online and showed that the vehicle was badly damaged. He, however, escaped without serious injuries.
