Dragged, Stripped, Humiliated-Comfort Emmanson Recounts Ibom Air Ordeal
Miss Comfort Emmanson has narrated her version of the confrontation that made her the centre of a viral airline incident.
In a detailed Instagram video, the real-estate consultant alleges an Ibom Air flight attendant assaulted her, tore her clothing, and damaged her belongings after a dispute about switching off her phone on an August 10 Uyo–Lagos flight.
She says the episode left her physically hurt and publicly exposed, with videos of her torn outfit circulating online.
What Emmanson says happened on board
According to Emmanson, trouble started during pre-takeoff checks when a cabin crew member, identified by her as “Juliana”, insisted that both of her phones be powered down rather than set to flight mode.
Emmanson says one phone had a faulty power button; with help from a nearby passenger, she eventually turned off both devices via settings.
She alleges the crew member made a terse remark before moving on, which she did not take seriously at the time.
The confrontation after landing
On arrival in Lagos, Emmanson says she briefly used the rear lavatory and returned to the aisle to disembark, only to find the same crew member blocking her exit. She began filming to document the obstruction.
At that point, she alleges, the attendant shoved her back, yanked off her frontal wig, tore her clothing, snapped her necklace, and sent her phones crashing to the floor.
Emmanson describes intense pain from the forced removal of the glued-on frontal and says she “poked” the attendant in reaction, demanding to know why she had been attacked. She further alleges the attendant hurled an insult at her during the exchange.
“My body was out there”
Emmanson says additional personnel entered and tried to restrain her as she attempted to shield herself. In the struggle, she says her outfit was torn further, leaving parts of her body exposed while bystanders recorded.
She describes the experience as deeply traumatic, adding that the online circulation of the footage has made daily life and job interviews daunting.
Emmanson maintains she is not “a troublesome person,” insists she switched off both phones, and says her reactions were driven by pain and humiliation.
Evidence and unanswered questions
Clips from the incident exist online, showing portions of the removal and the aftermath. However, the full sequence, what happened in the aisle before the cameras came out, and who initiated force, remains contested.
Emmanson’s account is her allegation; as of now, a comprehensive, independently verified timeline has not been released by authorities.
