Elon Musk to Release Grok 3, Calling it the Smartest AI Yet
Elon Musk has announced the launch of Grok 3, the latest AI chatbot from his company, xAI. He claims it is the “smartest AI on Earth” and will be unveiled with a live demo on Monday at 8 PM PT (Tuesday 9:30 AM IST).
Musk shared the news on X, saying he would stay offline until the launch while fine-tuning the chatbot with his team. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he called Grok 3 “scary smart” and stated that it is designed to outperform all current AI models.
What Makes Grok 3 Special?
Grok 3 has been trained using synthetic data, meaning it can learn from its mistakes and check its own accuracy. It has also benefited from xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, which used 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to train the model. This gave Grok 3 ten times more training power than its predecessor, Grok 2.
xAI has also improved the chatbot’s training method, using self-correction and reinforcement learning to make Grok 3 more efficient and intelligent.
AI Wars: Musk vs. OpenAI
The launch of Grok 3 comes as Musk and his team attempt to challenge OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Musk was one of OpenAI’s original co-founders but has criticized its shift from a nonprofit to a for-profit organization.
Recently, he and other investors made a $97.4 billion bid to take control of OpenAI and return it to its nonprofit roots.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, responded to the bid with a sharp message on X: “No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74bn if you want.”
Meanwhile, competition in AI is heating up. China’s DeepSeek has introduced an AI model that could challenge both Grok and ChatGPT. But Musk believes Grok 3 will be the most powerful AI model yet.
The world will soon find out if his claims hold true when Grok 3 goes live.
