#EndBadGovernance: Nigerian Police Might Ask for Military Help if Protests Get Worse

Protests about bad government and economic problems have gotten violent in some big cities in Nigeria. The Nigerian Police Force is very alert and might ask the military to help keep things calm. These protests started because people are upset about high living costs and government actions.

At first, these protests were peaceful. But soon, they turned violent, which made the local governments set curfews and take tough steps to control the situation.

In cities like Abuja and Port Harcourt, there were fights between the police and protesters. This caused the government in those places to set curfews to stop more violence and destruction. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said that all police units are ready and have orders to limit where people can go to stop more trouble.

“The police force is ready and will work with other security groups, including the military if we need to,” said Egbetokun.

Violence has caused damage to many buildings and vehicles, and many people have been hurt. In Kano, protesters broke into and damaged a digital park run by the Nigerian Communication Commission.

As of now, countries around the world have not reacted to these protests in Nigeria. The local leaders are trying to figure out how to calm things down, and they might use the military to help.

Using the military shows how serious the situation is and the problems the police have in controlling such big disturbances. The military could help bring back order but also might lead to more violence.

Asking the military to help is usually the last choice, showing how bad things have become and that strong actions are needed to make things stable and safe again.
