#EndSARS: Global Community Pledge Support for Nigerian Protesters
The #endsars protest which started in Nigeria about two weeks ago, is shaping up to be quite the revolution in the country with notable personality around the world showing their support. The protest which started as push to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) which was brutalising citizens, has evolved into revolution – a call for proactive leadership and an end to police brutality.
The protest started peacefully but has turned violent in various parts of the country, with the interference of hoodlums and unspecified powers in high places. One of the notable violent action from the protest occurred in the last night when protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos where attacked by gunmen – who have been alleged to be soldiers of the Nigerian Army – causing deaths and leaving several people wounded.

Hilary Clinton
The former US Presidential candidate called on Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the Nigerian Army to stop the killing of protesters in the country.

Hilary’s message to President follows the shootings carried out by men alleged to be from the Nigerian Army at #EndSARS protesters who gathered for a peaceful demonstration at the Lekki toll gate.
Joe Biden
Former US Vice President and now Presidential Aspirant, spoke on the alleged shooting of protesters, as well as the nationwide violence.
He said,
“I urge President Buhari and the Nigerian military to cease the violent crackdown on protesters in Nigeria, which has already resulted in several deaths. My heart goes out to all those who have lost a loved one in the violence.
The United States must stand with Nigerians who are peacefully demonstrating for police reform and seeking an end to corruption in their democracy. I encourage the government to engage in a good-faith dialogue with civil society to address these long-standing grievances and work together for a more just and inclusive Nigeria.”
Beyoncé
Global superstar Beyoncé has also turned her attention to the protest, the situation in the country was reportedly brought to her notice by Nigerian celebrities, Tiwa Savage and Toke Makinwa. Beyoncé finally talked about protest on social media this morning .
Rihanna
“It’s such a betrayal to the citizens, the very people put in place to protect are the ones we are most afraid of being murdered by!
My heart is broken for Nigeria man!! It is unbearable to watch! I’m so proud of your strength and not letting up on the fight for what’s right!”

Nicki Minaj
Similarly, Nicki Minaj wrote in a tweet that she is “standing with & praying for the brave young people of Nigeria who are on the front lines of this senseless violence.”
“Your voice is being heard,” Nicki added.
Anthony Joshua
The British-Nigerian heavyweight boxing champion, said it’s time for reform in Nigeria.
He tweeted, “The situation has escalated, the violence and killings are horrendous. All because of people saying they want to live in peace?”.
“I pray God opens the gates for the heroes of Nigeria! This was never a trend for me! It’s real life and I want to learn how to make lasting change.”
“I’m looking at hospitals to support, along with food and care packages in the time being.”
