Ex-Lagos Lawmaker Victor Akande Dies After Car Accident
Hon. Victor Akande, a two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and prominent lawyer, has died from complications sustained in a car accident.
He passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, after battling injuries from the collision, which occurred last week in the Ojo area of Lagos.
Akande served Ojo Constituency I from 2015 to 2023. He won his first term on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party before joining the All Progressives Congress and securing re-election in 2019.
During his tenure, he chaired the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, and Public Petitions and oversaw the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, earning respect for his advocacy on legal and electoral matters.
Colleagues remember Akande as a dedicated public servant who combined legal expertise with a deep commitment to his constituents. His passing is mourned across party lines in the Assembly and the wider Ojo community.
He is survived by his wife and children, who have requested privacy as they grieve their loss.
