Explosion Hits APP Office in Port Harcourt, Raises Concerns Over Political Tensions

An explosive device was set off at the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, late last night. The explosion, which happened around midnight, broke the glass windows close to the blast site.

Following the incident, the Rivers State Police quickly sent two security vehicles and officers to the area in New GRA. Despite the explosion, daily activities in the area have continued as usual.

Evidence of the explosives

The APP, which was not well-known in Rivers State, recently gained attention after setting up its office in a high-end area of Port Harcourt.

There are rumors that some unhappy members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) might be backing the APP because they are frustrated with how their party is being run in the state.

A member of the party who gave his name simply as Chimene said: “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack about 3am today.

“This is politically motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits. “

This explosion raises questions about the sudden rise of the APP in Rivers State. So far, neither the party nor the police have made any official statements about the incident, leaving many to wonder about the reasons behind the attack and what it means for the political situation in the state.
