FG Allocates 94 Houses to 1994 Super Eagles Squad
The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has honoured its long-standing commitment by allocating homes to all 94 members of Nigeria’s 1994 Africa Cup of Nations-winning Super Eagles squad.
Pemi Temitope, Director of Public Building and Housing Development, announced the completion of the programme in a statement issued Wednesday by the ministry’s Press Director, Badamasi Haiba, in Abuja.
Temitope officially handed the first allocation letter to former striker Efan Ekoku, on behalf of the Honourable Minister, at the ministry’s headquarters.
He explained that the properties have been distributed across multiple states, ensuring that team members receive units either in their home regions or in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The Federal Government remains steadfast in rewarding those whose performances brought immense pride to the nation,” Temitope said. “Completing this pledge underscores our dedication to keeping promises made to our sporting heroes.”
Responding through his niece, Lisa Nwagbogun, Ekoku expressed heartfelt thanks to the government and the ministry for fulfilling a promise first approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022, nearly three decades after the team’s triumph in Tunisia.
“This gesture reaffirms the value of integrity in public service and restores confidence that commitments will be honoured,” she remarked.
