FG Announces Tuesday, Wednesday for Eid-el-Fitr Festivities

The Nigerian Government has officially declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, as public holidays in honor of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, in Abuja.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and is a time of joy and thanksgiving for Muslims. Minister Tunji-Ojo took this opportunity to congratulate the Muslim Ummah for successfully completing the fasting period.

He emphasized the importance of embodying the virtues taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion.

The Minister urged all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to come together in the spirit of unity. The nation can continue to progress and overcome its challenges by fostering a sense of peace and oneness. This call to unity is particularly significant as Nigeria navigates through various socio-economic and political issues.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his warm wishes to the Muslim Ummah for a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration. He prayed for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah to be upon every individual and the country as a whole. This message of hope and goodwill resonates with the essence of Eid-el-Fitr, which is a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewed faith.

In summary, the declaration of Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr is a gesture that reflects the Nigerian Government’s respect for religious diversity and its commitment to national unity. As the country prepares to celebrate this significant festival, there is a collective hope for a future filled with peace, prosperity, and harmony.
