Fully Funded Scholarship for African Graduate Students and Researchers

The Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif) under the Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (PASET) is providing a great opportunity for graduate students and researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

The goal is to fill the gap in highly skilled specialists in applied sciences, engineering, and technology (ASET) and improve innovation in the region.

According to Scholarship Region, this fully funded scholarship covers tuition, research expenses, travel, and a monthly allowance for living costs.

The scholarship is available to PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and universities in SSA countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

About Rsif and PASET

Rsif is part of the PASET program, supported by African governments, the World Bank, and the Government of Korea.

The program is managed by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya. It helps talented PhD students and researchers in Africa gain high-level skills and contribute to research and innovation.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for the Rsif PhD Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country.
  • Have a relevant master’s degree.
  • Meet the admission requirements of the African Host University (AHU) offering the PhD program.
  • Be 35 years old or younger.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a PhD program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Not have another PhD scholarship.
  • Be willing to complete a 6-12 month research placement at an international partner institution.

Priority is given to women and young academic faculty who do not have a PhD yet.

Scholarship Benefits and Duration

The scholarship covers:

  • University tuition fees.
  • Research expenses.
  • Monthly allowance for living costs, return travel, visas, and medical insurance.
  • A 6-12 month research placement at an international partner institution.

The PhD program lasts three to four years, including the international research placement.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the icipe application platform. Email or paper applications will not be accepted. All applications will be checked for plagiarism. The deadline for applications is September 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm East Africa Time (UTC+3).
