Herbert Wigwe Linked to 106 London Properties – Ranked 7th Among Billionaire Homeowners

Herbert Wigwe, the late Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, has been revealed to own 106 properties in London, according to a recent report by The Londoner.

The report, titled “Revealed: The Billionaires Who Really Own London,” sheds light on the secret foreign owners of over 32,000 properties across the British capital. The findings come as a result of a recent law change that mandates foreign companies to disclose their true owners, making it easier to uncover these hidden property holdings.

According to the publication, 2,224 of the city’s most prestigious and expensive properties are registered under companies based in St. Helier, Jersey, a British island widely regarded as a tax haven.

Wigwe’s name appeared on the list of billionaire homeowners, ranking seventh with his portfolio of 106 London properties. He is preceded by other notable figures, including John Corless, Sarah Bard, Simon Reuben, Alexander Bard, Rit Thirakomen, and Wolfgang Peter Egger.

Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024. The crash occurred near the California-Nevada border, and all six passengers on board were confirmed dead.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), in its final investigation report, identified the cause of the crash as the pilot’s decision to proceed with the flight under visual flight rules, despite entering instrument meteorological conditions (IMC).

Since Wigwe’s passing, his family has been involved in ongoing legal disputes over his estate. In February 2025, Shyngle Wigwe, the father of the late banker, and Christian Wigwe, his cousin, filed an appeal to challenge a ruling by the Lagos State High Court regarding the handling of the estate.
