How to Apply for NELFUND 2025/2026 Student Loan

The application window for the NELFUND application runs from October 23, 2025, to January 31, 2026. New and returning students of approved Nigerian institutions can apply.

If your school has not started the 2025/2026 session, the school should write to NELFUND with its approved academic calendar so your application can be scheduled.

Fresh students should use their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number instead of a matric number.

How to apply

1. Go to the portal: Visit nelf.gov.ng and click Apply Now.
   
2. Start registration: Click Get Started and answer the questions to confirm you are eligible.
   
3. Confirm your school: Choose your institution from the list and enter your matric number (freshers can use Admission No./JAMB No.). This checks that your school has uploaded your data.
   
4. Verify with JAMB or NIN: Enter your JAMB details. If your NIN is not linked to JAMB, you can use NIN for verification.
   
5. Create your account: Use a valid email, set a password, then open your email and click the verification link.
   
6. Log in and complete your profile: Fill in your contact, education, and bank details (BVN, bank name, account number).
   
7. Request the loan: Click Request for Student Loan. Choose what you need: tuition, upkeep, or both.
   
8. Upload documents: Upload a scanned admission letter. You may add your student ID or school invoice (optional).
   
9. Review and submit: Read the loan terms, accept the Terms & Conditions and GSI Mandate, then click Submit Application.
   
10. Track your status: Check the Loans section on your dashboard. You’ll get a notification when a decision is made.
