How to Easily Update Your NIN Details from Home

Nigerians can now update their National Identification Number (NIN) details from home, they don’t have to stand in the long queue at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) offices.

Recognising the need for a simpler solution, Business Elite Africa has created a detailed do-it-yourself guide that allows individuals to update their National Identification Number (NIN) details right from their homes.

This guide, based on information sourced from NIMC’s social media updates, provides easy-to-follow steps to modify personal information such as name, address, date of birth, and other details without the need to visit NIMC offices.

This convenient method ensures that your personal information remains accurate and up-to-date, saving you time and avoiding queues.

The NIN is crucial for various administrative functions like accessing government services, opening bank accounts, and more. Before using the NIMC short code to make changes, ensure your phone number is registered with your NIN. Note that modifications are verified and approved by NIMC and may involve a fee.

Step-by-Step Guide to Modifying Your NIN Details:

1. Dial the Short Code: Start by dialing *346# from your mobile phone.

2. Select NIN Modification: Choose the “NIN Modification” option from the menu.

3. Enter Your NIN: Input your 11-digit National Identification Number.

4. Verify Your NIN: Double-check that the entered NIN is correct before proceeding.

5. Select Modification Option: Choose the specific detail you wish to update (e.g., name, date of birth, address).

6. Enter New Details: Input the new information that you want to reflect in your records.

7. Confirm Changes: Verify that all the new details are accurate.

8. Receive Confirmation Code: You will receive a confirmation code via SMS to your registered phone number.

9. Confirm Modification: Enter the received confirmation code to finalise the changes.

10. Receive Update Confirmation: Once the process is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation of the update.
