Immigration Announces New Passport Fees to ₦100k & ₦200k

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced new fees for the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025.

A 32-page passport with 5-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will cost ₦200,000. The NIS states that the review aims to maintain the quality and integrity of the passport.

According to the official statement, the adjustment applies only to applications made within Nigeria. Fees for Nigerians applying from abroad remain unchanged at $150 (32-page, 5-year) and $230 (64-page, 10-year).

The new rates represent a 100% increase from the previous fees of ₦50,000 (32-page, 5-year) and ₦100,000 (64-page, 10-year).

What this means for applicants

  • If you’re applying in Nigeria, budget ₦100,000 for a 32-page passport (5-year) or ₦200,000 for a 64-page passport (10-year) from September 1.
  • If you’re applying from abroad, your fees stay at $150 and $230, respectively.
  • Where to apply: submit your application online via the official NIS portal, then complete biometric enrolment at a passport office—avoid third-party “agents.”
