JAPA: Canada to Tighten Rules for Hiring Foreign Workers
Canada plans to reduce the number of temporary foreign workers entering the country, according to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In a brief statement posted on his social media account on Wednesday, Trudeau announced that companies will now face stricter requirements when hiring foreign workers.
Businesses will be required to prove that they cannot find Canadian workers for the job before being allowed to hire from abroad. “We’re going to have fewer temporary foreign workers in Canada,” Trudeau said. “Stricter rules will make companies prove why they can’t hire Canadian workers first.”
