King Sunny Ade Allegedly Kidnapped by Stepson, Daughter Cries Out

Damilola Adeniyi Adegeye, daughter of the legendary juju singer King Sunny Ade, has raised alarm, claiming her father is being held against his will by his stepson, Dayo Adegeye.

In a series of posts shared on Instagram, Damilola alleged that the 78-year-old music icon has been “kidnapped” by Dayo, who also serves as his manager. She further named Dayo’s mother, his brothers Demola and Kenny, and the family’s driver, Ade, as part of the group responsible for the situation.

“King Sunny Ade has been kidnapped,” Damilola wrote. “The manager, his mother, brothers Demola and Kenny, and their driver Ade are behind this.”

She claimed that King Sunny Ade’s current location is unknown and that the family is being misled about his whereabouts. Damilola accused Dayo of withholding important information and falsely assuring relatives that everything was fine, even though no one in the family knows exactly where he is.

In her emotional post, Damilola said:
“…This has shown me who they really are. These are the people my dad is around, yet no one knows his whereabouts. Everyone in the family is worried and searching for him, but they are not telling us anything.”

She also expressed concern that while King Sunny Ade continues to perform at shows, the family is not benefiting financially from his engagements. Damilola appealed to Dayo to “let him rest” and urged the Nigerian police to step in immediately.

“King Sunny Ade, my dad, has been kidnapped and is working under pressure. Emergency!” she wrote.
“Brother D, stop booking shows. Let him rest so he can take care of himself and his family. He keeps working but the family is not seeing any money.”

She ended her posts by asking the public not to book King Sunny Ade for any events until the situation is cleared up.

As of now, neither King Sunny Ade nor Dayo Adegeye has made any official statements regarding the allegations.
