Kylian Mbappé Linked to Rape Investigation in Sweden

Kylian Mbappé, the French football star who plays for Real Madrid, is involved in a rape investigation in Sweden.

His lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, said on Thursday that Mbappé will explain himself to Swedish authorities “if necessary.”

“He will provide his side of the story to the Swedish justice system if required,” Canu-Bernard told AFP, while criticizing reports that Mbappé had spoken about the incident.

French news outlets Le Parisien and RMC Sports reported that Mbappé had consensual sex with a woman during his recent trip to Stockholm.

They also said Mbappé has messages from the woman showing she was happy with the encounter. However, Le Parisien could not confirm if this woman is the same person who later filed the rape complaint.

Kylian visited Stockholm from October 9 to 11 with friends after being sidelined from France’s Nations League games due to a thigh injury.

Swedish media reported that Mbappé and his friends went to a restaurant and nightclub. After they left, a woman reported to the police, claiming she was raped.

Earlier this week, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet revealed that a rape investigation had started.

Kylian denied the accusations on social media, calling it “fake news” and suggesting the claims were linked to his legal dispute with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.

The hearing for that case happened on Tuesday.

Mbappé expressed his frustration on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “It’s so predictable, right before the hearing, like it’s a coincidence.”

A Swedish prosecutor confirmed that an investigation is ongoing but did not name Mbappé. His lawyer assured the public that the 2018 World Cup winner is calm, saying he “has done nothing wrong.”
