Man U, Arsenal, Man City, Bayern Fight for Xavi Simons

Four of Europe’s football titans, Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are entangled in the pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s young star, Xavi Simons.

Xavi Simons, a product of PSG’s rich nurturing ground, stands out not only for his technical prowess but also for his strategic understanding of the game.

At just 21, his ability to dictate the pace and rhythm of play has made him one of the most-watched young talents in European football.

Simons’ versatility in midfield helped his national team in rallying to defeat Poland in Euro 2024 on Sunday.

L’Equipe reports that Manchester United has reached out to PSG to discuss a potential transfer for the player. However, they are not the only ones interested in securing Simons’ services.

The report also notes that two Premier League rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City, along with Bayern Munich, have expressed their interest. All three clubs have contacted the French champions to indicate their intent to negotiate a deal.

Other potential options

According to The Sun, Manchester United is interested in Bayern Munich’s defender Matthijs De Ligt as they look to strengthen their defense following Raphael Varane’s departure.

The club has also been linked with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, although their initial offer falls short of Everton’s £70 million valuation. Meanwhile, the futures of other defenders like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at Manchester United remain uncertain.

Sky Germany reports that the German club has set a £42 million price tag on the 24-year-old De Ligt. Additionally, it is reported that Manchester United has started internal discussions regarding a potential deal for the defender.

Chelsea on the other hand is also determined to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace and is considering a player-exchange deal, offering either Trevoh Chalobah or Noni Madueke, according to reports from The Mirror and The Sun.

The Telegraph adds that Chelsea might also include Armando Broja or Cesare Casadei in the deal, and notes that Palace has shown interest in Madueke. It’s also mentioned that Olise’s £60 million release clause applies only to Champions League teams, which Chelsea did not qualify for, finishing sixth last season.
