Missing Malawi’s VP Killed in Horrific Plane Crash: ‘All Passengers Died on Impact’ – President
Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, along with nine others have been confirmed dead after their aircraft went missing on Monday.
President Lazarus Chakwera disclosed this on Tuesday.
The President said: “I’m deeply saddened, I’m sorry to inform you all that it has turned out to be a tragedy. The search and rescue team has found the aircraft near a hill. They have found it destroyed with no survivors.”
Business Elites Africa earlier reported that the Vice President had departed from the capital, Lilongwe, at 9:17 a.m. GMT on Monday, failed to land as scheduled at Mzuzu airport as the aircraft went off the radar.
Chilima, 51, is a potential candidate in the upcoming presidential election in Malawi.

The wreckage was located near a hill with no survivors, President Chakwera confirmed in a national address.
He stated that the crash was a severe incident despite the aircraft’s sound track record and the crew’s experience. All passengers were killed on impact.
Chilima, aged 51, was recently acquitted of graft allegations, enhancing his political profile ahead of next year’s elections.
