Mojisola Meranda Resigns As Lagos State Assembly Speaker
Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly during an ongoing leadership crisis within the assembly. Her resignation comes amidst deep divisions that have affected both the assembly and the party’s leadership in the state.
Meranda announced her resignation, stating she stepped down to preserve the integrity of the state assembly. Before her announcement, fellow lawmakers praised her for her legislative skills, dedication, and effective leadership during her tenure.
Desmond Olusola Elliot, a fellow assembly member, commended Meranda for her exemplary leadership. “She led the house well,” he noted, appreciating her efforts.
Another lawmaker, Temitope Adewale Ifako-Ijaiye I, expressed his admiration, saying, “We celebrate you for your quality service. You are a heroine of democracy. You came, you saw, you conquered. You are a victim of circumstance. This house is in tears.”
