Musk Admits Regret Over Past Posts About Trump — Here’s Why

Surprisingly, Elon Musk has publicly admitted that he may have gone too far in his recent online comments about former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, known for his unapologetic and often provocative posts on his platform X (formerly Twitter), posted on Wednesday that he regrets “some of [his] posts about President Donald Trump last week.”

While Musk didn’t specify exactly which posts he was referring to, his social media timeline recently included harsh criticism of Trump’s latest tax and spending bill, which he described as a “disgusting abomination.”

The blunt statement sparked a back-and-forth exchange between the two high-profile figures, drawing widespread attention online and in political circles.

The fallout escalated quickly. Trump, never one to back down from a public feud, declared their relationship “over” during a weekend statement. Still, in typical Trump fashion, he left the door slightly ajar, suggesting that he wouldn’t mind if Musk reached out to make peace.

Behind the scenes, sources familiar with the situation suggest that Musk’s frustration may have cooled in recent days. Some even believe he’s looking to ease tensions and possibly rebuild ties with Trump, despite their very public spat.

In line with that, Musk has already removed a few of his more critical posts from X, including one that hinted at support for impeaching the president.

Interestingly, Musk’s post of regret seemed to have a positive effect on investors, Tesla shares in Frankfurt rose by over 2% shortly after he acknowledged his missteps. Whether that’s a reflection of market confidence in Musk’s leadership or simply relief at a possible de-escalation remains to be seen.

Musk’s openness about his regret stands in contrast to his usual defiant persona. For a man who rarely backs down from online fights, whether it’s with regulators, journalists, or fellow billionaires, this admission signals a more strategic, perhaps more politically aware side of the tech mogul.
