Netflix Series That Got Cancelled in 2025
Netflix fans know the pain, you find a show, fall in love, binge it in a few days, tell all your friends, and wait eagerly for the next season, only for Netflix to cancel it.
In 2025, the streaming platform has been particularly harsh, cutting over 20 shows, even some that were popular, critically acclaimed, or made it to the Top 10.
Netflix’s 2025 cancellations show a simple truth, being good or popular isn’t enough. Timing, cost, and streaming strategy matter more than ever. Each cancelled show leaves fans with unfinished stories and creators without a platform, but in the cold world of streaming, that’s just business. Here’s a look at the biggest Netflix cancellations this year.
The Recruit
Noah Centineo’s spy thriller, The Recruit, was cancelled in March 2025, just two months after Season 2 premiered. Season 1 was a hit, but the long wait between seasons due to Hollywood strikes killed momentum. Even with a 77% Rotten Tomatoes score, the viewership just wasn’t there.
FUBAR
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action comedy FUBAR couldn’t survive a two-year gap between seasons. Season 2 failed to impress critics and audiences, leading to its cancellation in August 2025. Not even Arnie could save it.
The Residence
Shonda Rhimes’ White House whodunit, The Residence, had a strong cast and earned 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also hit Netflix’s Top 10. But the production costs were too high, and Netflix decided it wasn’t financially worth a second season.
Pulse
The medical drama Pulse, co-created by Carlton Cuse, launched in April 2025 but couldn’t find an audience. Critics were harsh, giving it a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it was cancelled just three months later.
Territory
Netflix hoped Territory, an Australian neo-Western, would rival shows like Yellowstone. Despite an 87% Rotten Tomatoes score and early global success, the series was cancelled four months after its first season due to production timing and scheduling issues
Kaala Paani
Even renewals aren’t safe. Indian thriller Kaala Paani was renewed for a second season in 2023 but was cancelled in 2025 because of behind-the-scenes problems. The show had 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and hit #8 on Netflix Global Top 10, proving the cancellation wasn’t about performance.
Shafted
A spinoff of Alpha Males, Shafted didn’t perform well. With low ratings and poor reviews, Netflix cancelled it, while Alpha Males continued into its fourth season.
Queer Eye
Not technically a cancellation, but Netflix’s Queer Eye is ending after its 10th season. The show won 11 Emmys, made audiences cry, and became a cultural phenomenon, but even its success couldn’t keep it going forever.
