An ICT park encompasses a region or place with a concentration of all ICT facilities that allow for a concerted leap into the digital era by creating a dynamic atmosphere in which local talent is incubated, developed, and exchanged. ICT parks are best tested and trusted institutional frameworks for addressing the needs of technology-intensive, knowledge-based SMEs globally.
When Nigeria completes the construction of these ICT parks, the upsides to are indisputable:
- The ICT parks are aimed at providing innovation labs and digital fabrication laboratories for use by ICT innovators and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into products and prototypes, provide a Commercial Hub for ICT capacity building and digital transformation.
- The ICT parks will help build skills, create employment and entrepreneurial activities, facilitate smart city deployment across the Digital Industrial complex.
- Ultimately the design of these parks will support the federal government’s ICT–related policies by facilitating the availability and accessibility of ICT services across the country and promoting their usage across all sectors.
- It has the capacity to facilitate skill acquisition and innovation among Nigerian youths ultimately accelerating socio-economic transformation in the country.
For at least two decades, the need to significantly access information, communicate, collaborate, and improve socio-economic circumstances have been focused on digital and technological innovations.
Nonetheless, Nigeria has been a testament to the benefits of digital transformation, given the lack of key infrastructure and the lack of affordable services, with an increasing number of individuals and societies embracing technology solutions in their everyday lives.
