Nigerian-American Billionaire Simon Guobadia Deported to Nigeria

According to Stella Mimikorkus, RHOA star Porsha Williams’ estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, has allegedly been deported back to Nigeria after spending several months in ICE custody in Georgia.

Simon Guobadia, a 61-year-old Nigerian businessman, was detained in February 2025 at the Stewart Detention Centre in Lumpkin, Georgia. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials held him because he had repeatedly overstayed his visa since first arriving in America in 1982.

Following weeks in detention, Guobadia was placed on a charter flight and sent to Lagos in early June 2025. 

Underlying Immigration and Legal Issues

Guobadia’s immigration troubles date back over four decades. He initially entered the U.S. in 1982 on a work visa but was declared deportable in 1985 due to an overstay.

Although he returned to the U.S. a month after an earlier 1992 deportation, authorities later determined that he had obtained permanent-resident status under a false identity.

In 1987, he pleaded guilty to bank and credit-card fraud, and his 2016 application for naturalisation was denied for failing to resolve his prior unlawful presence and fraud convictions.

His case resurfaced amid the U.S. government’s broader deportation efforts, leading to his ICE detention and eventual removal.

Marriage to Porsha Williams and Abrupt Split

Simon and Porsha Williams began dating in April 2021 and celebrated their union with both Nigerian and American wedding ceremonies in November 2022. By February 2024, just 15 months later, Porsha filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Their split quickly became acrimonious: Porsha secured exclusive rights to their shared Atlanta home, and Simon sued her for $75,000 in emotional-distress damages, alleging defamation after she publicly questioned his manhood on social media.

Reports also pointed to disputes over financial transparency and trust, with Porsha accusing Simon of misrepresenting his assets during their marriage
