Nigerian Facebook Creators Now Eligible for Ad Revenue Monetization
Facebook creators in Nigeria can now earn money from ad revenue as the country has become eligible for monetization.
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, enabled this feature on Thursday, June 27, marking a significant development for content creators in the region.
Previously, Nigerian creators were unable to monetize their Facebook content unless their page was managed from an eligible country.
Now, with the new update, creators in Nigeria can monetize their content directly through various Facebook features, including in-stream ads, live ads, ads on reels, bonuses, and subscriptions.
According to checks by Business Elite, Nigerian creators have already started meeting the location criteria since the approval. Many content creators have taken to Facebook to celebrate this milestone.
Praise Chidera Obiora, a story writer on Facebook, shared his excitement in a post, saying, “Congratulations Nigeria. We are eligible for monetization.”
This development follows a visit by Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Sir Nick Clegg, to Nigeria in March. During his visit, Clegg met with President Bola Tinubu and announced plans for further monetization features.
Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale noted that Meta would introduce a feature on Instagram in June 2024, allowing Nigerian creators to monetize their content on that platform as well.
Mark Zuckerberg Announces New Update on WhatsApp
According to reports, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has informed users about a new chat filter feature on WhatsApp to enhance the platform’s usability.
Mark announced the update on his verified Facebook page, explaining how this new feature will benefit users on the popular messaging app.
The announcement sparked excitement among WhatsApp users, with many describing the new chat filter feature as a welcome and useful addition.
This move is seen as a major win for Nigerian content creators, providing them with new opportunities to earn a living from their work on social media platforms.
