Nigeria’s V.P Shettima’s Jet Springs Fault Mid-Air, US Trip Aborted

Following the advice of the Presidential Fleet, Vice President Kashim Shettima has cancelled his scheduled trip to the US to represent his  boss at the 2024 US-Africa Business Forum.

Shettima’s spokesperson Stanley Nwocha said an emergency necessitated this.

Vice President Kashim Shettima who was unable to make the trip following a technical fault with his aircraft, forcing him to make a detour on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet,” he said.

The statement did not reveal exactly what the technical fault was.

Most times, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo flew in the Gulfstream.V on the presidential fleet of 10 aircraft the current administration plans to reduce.

There are two Gulfstreams, two Falcons, four AugustWestland choppers, and a Boeing Business Jet under maintenance on the fleet now.

Two years ago, President Muhammadu Buhari and his delegation were returning from the US when a  presidential jet number 5N-FGT had a glitch, according to Sahara Reporters.

After the May 6 incident, Shettima returned to Aso Rock Villa to carry on with other national duties, Nwocha said.
