Nollywood Mourns as Renowned Production Designer Pat Nebo Passes Away 

Pat Nebo, a distinguished Nigerian production designer and art director, passed away on Thursday, September 14, following a prolonged illness. His death was confirmed by Shaibu Husseini, a movie journalist and juror at the African Movie Academy Awards, who described Nebo as a “Master of the Craft of film production design.”

Boasting a career spanning 30 years, Pat Nebo earned acclaim for his work on popular Nollywood films such as October 1, ’76, Being Mrs Elliot, and Citation. He also served as the art director for movies like The Figurine, Phone Swap, and Half of a Yellow Sun.

Notably, Pat Nebo won an African Movie Academy Award in 2017 for his work on Izu Ojukwu’s ’76. He was lauded for his meticulous attention to set and production design, which has made him an irreplaceable figure in the Nigerian film industry.

How Pat Nebo started out 

He began his career in 1993 with the film ‘Ti Oluwa Nile’ and also ventured into acting, appearing in films like ‘The Figurine’ and ’76.’ Over the years, he received numerous awards, including the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Art Director for his work on ’76’.

Pat Nebo’s contribution to Nollywood remains unparalleled, and his death marks a significant loss to the industry.
