Cheta Chukwu – The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3

Cheta Chukwu is a rising star in Nollywood, known for his unique approach to storytelling. His recent work, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, made waves when it hit theaters in October 2024. 

As a writer and director, Chukwu has gained recognition for his works like Payday and Strawberry Chinny, which have earned international acclaim. Chukwu’s ability to craft stories that resonate with audiences globally has earned him a spot in the prestigious Torino Film Lab’s Extended Writer-Director Program. With The Uprising, he once again proves his storytelling prowess.

Jack’enneth Opukeme – Farmer’s Bride

Jack’enneth Opukeme’s impressive resume includes high-performing films like Adire, Battle on Buka Street, and the recently successful Farmer’s Bride. A passionate director and writer, Opukeme made his mark by co-directing Farmer’s Bride with Adebayo Tijani. 

With a background in theater, Opukeme’s career took off when he interned at FilmOne, Nigeria’s leading film distributor. His unique storytelling style and fresh perspective continue to capture the hearts of Nollywood fans.

Dare Olaitan and Stephen Okonkwo – Ajosepo

Dare Olaitan and Stephen Okonkwo are two talented writers whose combined forces brought Ajosepo to the big screen. Olaitan, known for films like Ojukokoro and Knockout Blessing, is a skilled writer-director who consistently explores bold, impactful stories. 

Okonkwo, on the other hand, has written for numerous successful projects like Soole and Honey Money. Together, they crafted Ajosepo, a comedy-drama about the complexities of family and culture. The film quickly became a box office hit, dominating Nigerian cinemas for weeks after its release.

Anthony Kehinde Joseph – Queen Lateefah

Anthony Kehinde Joseph is a name that resonates in Nollywood for his intriguing and thought-provoking screenplays. With works like Bling Lagosians, Merry Men, and Ijakumo, Joseph has made a significant impact on the industry. 

In 2024, he brought to life Queen Lateefah, a gripping tale of a woman navigating deception, lies, and the pursuit of status in modern Lagos. Joseph’s ability to weave complex characters into captivating narratives has made him a standout writer in Nollywood.

Tunde Babalola – Funmilayo Ransome Kuti

Tunde Babalola is a renowned screenwriter whose career spans Nollywood and British television. Known for his work on films like Last Flight to Abuja and October 1, Babalola has earned numerous awards for his compelling storytelling. 

In 2024, he wrote the script for Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, a biographical film about the iconic activist. Directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, this film received critical acclaim, winning Best Screenplay and Best Film at the African Film Festival (AFRIFF) in 2023. 

Babalola also worked on the epic Netflix project House of Ga’a, further cementing his place in Nollywood’s elite circle of screenwriters.
