Okpebholo, Idahosa Sworn-in as Governor and Deputy of Edo State
Senator Monday Okpebholo was recently inaugurated as the 6th elected Governor of Edo State, marking the conclusion of Godwin Obaseki’s eight-year term with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The oath of office ceremony for both Okpebholo and his Deputy, Hon. Denise Idahosa, was held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Justice Daniel Okongbowa, the Chief Judge of Edo, officiated the swearing-in.
Senator Okpebholo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the governorship election held on September 21, defeating the PDP candidate, Barr. Asue Ighodalo, and the Labour Party’s Barr. Olumide Akpata.
The event saw the attendance of notable figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, and former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, highlighting a new chapter in Edo’s political landscape.
