Pastor Chris Against Pastor Abel Damini’s Solution to Porn Addiction

The solution proposed by Dr. Abel Damina, a well-known Nigerian Pastor and founder of Abel Damina Ministries International, to combat porn addiction has sparked heated debates among conservative Christians across the nation.

The controversy ignited when a video surfaced on social media, showcasing Damina’s unconventional advice on dealing with the scourge of porn addiction. During a session on Comfort FM’s Righteous Invasion of Truth (RIOT) program in Uyo, Damina suggested a method that diverged sharply from traditional approaches.

“Don’t struggle to stop watching the porn. Don’t struggle at all. Just keep watching the porn. As you are watching the porn, spend more time hearing the ‘word’,” Damina urged.

His recommendation shocked many as it advocated for individuals to continue consuming pornographic content while simultaneously immersing themselves in religious teachings. Damina believed that by inundating oneself with the word of God, the desire for porn would naturally diminish.

However, this viewpoint received swift condemnation from various quarters, especially from conservative Christians who considered it tantamount to endorsing sinful behavior.

Prominent televangelist, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, weighed in on the matter, asserting that pornography is unequivocally sinful and should be abstained from entirely.

“God recognized nakedness as a feeling of shame… Christians desist from it,” Pastor Chris emphasized quoting Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 15.

Similarly, Pastor Gideon Odoma of the Fortress Ministry decried Damina’s stance, labeling pornography as a pervasion and condemning any attempt to trivialize it.

The debate has ignited a flurry of reactions on social media, with some defending Damina’s perspective as a call to rely on spiritual strength to overcome sin, while others vehemently oppose it, citing biblical injunctions to flee from evil.

As the controversy rages on, one thing remains clear: the issue of porn addiction continues to be a subject of intense debate and concern within Nigerian religious circles.
