Peter Obi Donates N20 Million to Support Mokwa Flood Victims
Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has contributed twenty million naira to aid victims of the recent devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State. The donation was announced on Monday.
Obi was warmly received in Minna by Niger State’s Deputy Governor, Mr. Yakubu Garba, who represented Governor Muhammad Bago. During the meeting, Obi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State over the tragic incident.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the flood has claimed the lives of approximately 153 people so far, while causing extensive damage to property valued at millions of naira.
Praying for the departed souls, Obi also asked for strength and comfort for the families affected by the disaster. He further shared his intention to personally visit Mokwa in the near future to offer direct support and solidarity with the victims during their time of sorrow.
In response, Deputy Governor Garba conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Niger State government and its citizens for Obi’s generous support. He praised the former governor’s compassion and commitment to humanitarian causes, especially during this challenging period for Mokwa residents.
