President Bola Tinubu Starts N50,000 Monthly Stipends for Niger Delta Youths

President Bola Tinubu has decided to give a monthly payment of N50,000 to 10,000 young people in the Niger Delta.

This announcement came from Senate President Godswill Akpabio at a meeting in Port Harcourt, attended by local youths and women.

This money, given through the Niger Delta Development Commission’s Youth Intensive Scheme, will be provided for a year initially, with the possibility of continuing longer. It’s part of President Tinubu’s efforts to help with the economic problems in this oil-rich area.

Akpabio asked the young people at the meeting not to join a planned protest on August 1, saying it could cause trouble. He mentioned that the protest could lead to chaos and is not in the best interest of the Niger Delta.

President Tinubu is also starting a big road project that will connect Lagos to Calabar. This project is expected to create thousands of jobs for local young people.

Akpabio pointed out that the government is aware of the problems caused by oil and gas work in the area and is working to fix these and other big economic challenges in Nigeria.

He criticized the planned protests, calling them harmful and not useful for the Niger Delta. He said the protests were copying troubles in other places like Kenya and could bring chaos to Nigeria.

Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, also spoke at the meeting. He asked everyone to be patient and support the government’s plans to develop the region.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the head of the NDDC, mentioned that President Tinubu took over at a tough economic time but has started programs to improve the situation.

He said the area is starting to see the benefits of its long fight for development, which are now being supported by the current government.
