Seyi Tinubu Visits Obi Cubana, Hands Him City Boy Movement Appointment Letter

Prominent businessman and socialite Obi Cubana, born Obi Iyiegbu, has received an appointment letter as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement from Seyi Tinubu.

Iyiegbu disclosed the development on Tuesday via his official Instagram page.

He said Seyi Tinubu visited him at his residence on Monday night to personally present the certificate of appointment. According to him, the visit also created space for wide-ranging conversations on national issues.

“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.

The Anambra-born entrepreneur acknowledged the mixed reactions that followed his appointment and addressed the criticism directly. He defended his decision to accept the role, arguing that real and lasting change requires engagement, not distance.

“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he stated.

Obi Cubana stressed that his new role would not dilute his values or commitments. He said integrity, community development, and responsible leadership would remain central to his actions.

“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside, so yes, here we are. I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he added.

He also described President Bola Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” noting that this understanding of enterprise and inclusion would guide his approach in the South-East.

“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.

Calling for tolerance and maturity in public discourse, the nightlife entrepreneur urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions while focusing on value creation and national progress.

“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move,” he concluded.

He thanked supporters for their goodwill and reaffirmed his commitment to an inclusive and forward-looking future.
