Why Sowore Will Never Join Forces with Atiku or Peter Obi for the 2027 Election – The Shocking Truth
Former presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore says he will not join any political coalition involving Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Politics Today, Sowore said he has no plans to work with either politician or their parties. He believes such alliances have failed in the past and will not bring the change Nigerians need.
“I’m not joining any coalition. The one they formed in 2013 and 2015 brought the APC into power. Doing the same thing again in 2025 will not give us different results,” he said.
He Wants a Coalition of the People, Not the Politicians
Sowore, who ran for president in 2019 and 2023 under the African Action Congress (AAC), said he prefers to work with ordinary Nigerians, especially those who feel left behind by the system.
“The real coalition we need is one that brings together the oppressed. Joining with the same people who damaged Nigeria is unfair to the citizens,” he said.
He also said he would not join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or any group of politicians he believes are playing games with Nigerians’ future.
“You’ll never see me join their coalition. I’m not part of those playing chess with the lives of Nigerians,” he added.
Sowore’s comments come at a time when there is talk of a new opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 election.
Reports suggest Atiku, Obi, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai are working together to form a strong group that could challenge President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku confirmed the idea of a new coalition during a recent press conference organized by a group called Concerned Leaders and Political Stakeholders in Nigeria.
But Sowore made it clear that he won’t be a part of it.
