Tinubu Secretly Buys $100M Jet Amid Economic Hardship- Sowore Claims
Omoyele Sowore, a two-time presidential candidate, recently claimed that President Bola Tinubu had secretly bought a $100 million presidential jet.
This allegation follows a recommendation from a National Assembly committee that suggested buying a new jet for the presidential fleet, which they reported as dysfunctional.
Despite this suggestion, many Nigerians opposed the proposal. In a post on social media, Sowore stated that President Tinubu not only purchased the jet but also spent an additional $50 million on modifications, preparing it for use under its new registration, 5N-FGA.
The jet, an A330-200 model, was initially registered as VP-CAC.
Sowore criticised the government for making such an expensive purchase when it has not addressed more pressing economic issues.
He pointed out the inconsistencies in the government’s spending, noting the failure to increase the minimum wage and the necessity for students to take loans for education, while still approving large sums for religious pilgrimages, with the funds often being misused.
