Supercomputer Predicts Premier League Winner for 2025/26

The countdown to the new Premier League season has officially begun with the release of the full 2025/26 fixture list and already, a supercomputer has stirred the pot by predicting how the season will end.

While fans were busy scanning the match calendar for the big clashes, derby dates, and survival showdowns, a data-powered machine quietly ran tens of thousands of simulations based on team form, betting odds, and historical performance to forecast the final league table.

And guess what? According to this model, Liverpool are about to go back-to-back.

Liverpool Tipped to Retain the Crown

Arne Slot’s Liverpool side, who lifted the title last season, have been tipped to finish top again this time with 82 points. They’ll begin their title defense at home against Bournemouth on August 15, breaking a recent tradition of opening against newly-promoted sides.

Led by Virgil van Dijk and boosted by a strong core, the Reds seem poised for another dominant campaign, at least according to the machine.

Manchester City, perennial contenders under Pep Guardiola, are predicted to push Liverpool all the way, ending just three points behind on 79. Arsenal, on the other hand, despite kicking off the season with a high-stakes opener at Old Trafford, are forecasted to fall short once again and finish third with 72 points.

The Rest of the Top Six

Aston Villa fans will be encouraged by the supercomputer’s forecast, Unai Emery’s men are expected to round out the top four with 64 points, marking another year of progress.

Newcastle United are projected to secure the fifth Champions League spot (if England keeps the extra place), while Chelsea, despite a strong opening run of fixtures, will reportedly just miss out in sixth.

Meanwhile, Tottenham and Manchester United, two clubs with plenty to prove — are in for a disappointing ride. Both are expected to finish mid-table: Spurs in 15th and United barely above them in 14th, a result that’s already fueling speculation about the future of new United boss Ruben Amorim.

Relegation issues for promoted sides

Burnley, Leeds United, and Sunderland, the three newly promoted clubs, are all tipped for an immediate return to the Championship. Burnley, despite the cliché of 40 points ensuring survival, still find themselves relegated in the simulation.

Nottingham Forest, whose strong 2024/25 showing brought them into European football, may also struggle this season, potentially weighed down by their Conference League commitments.

All about the opening day

The fixture list has delivered some juicy clashes from the jump. Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United stands out a tricky start for Amorim, especially given United’s record of winning two-thirds of their opening-day fixtures historically.

Elsewhere, Chelsea open with a London derby against Crystal Palace, Manchester City travel to Wolves, and Spurs host Burnley in what could be an early litmus test.

What the predictions really mean

Of course, no supercomputer can account for injuries, January transfers, unexpected form slumps, or the magic of football surprises.

But if its projections are anything to go by, Liverpool could be on the verge of building another era of dominance and some big clubs might be in for a very long season.
