The Top 10 Highest-Scoring Nigerians in UCL History

Nigeria’s record in the UEFA Champions League keeps improving. After his latest goal, Victor Osimhen now has 10 goals, which puts him level with Obafemi Martins at the top of the Nigerian all-time list.

At the same time, several other Super Eagles stars have also scored important goals in Europe over the years.

Here are the Top 10 Highest-Scoring Nigerians in UCL History:

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen plays with great energy and speed, making smart runs behind defenders and finishing with simple headers or first-time shots, and because he is still in his prime, he has a strong chance to move clear as Nigeria’s top scorer in the competition.

Obafemi Martins

Obafemi Martins also has 10 goals and built his reputation on explosive pace and a powerful left foot, often running past high defensive lines for counter-attack finishes during his peak years at Inter and later clubs.

Victor Ikpeba

Victor Ikpeba scored 7 goals by taking clever positions and staying calm in front of the goal, and he fitted well in Monaco’s quick passing teams, where he could arrive in the box at the right moment for an easy finish.

Ayegbeni Yakubu

Ayegbeni Yakubu also scored 7 goals and used his strength to pin defenders, hold the ball with his back to goal, and finish quickly inside the penalty area, showing that timing and power can be as important as speed.

Emmanuel Emenike

Emmanuel Emenike’s 7 goals came from direct running and fast breaks into space, turning defenders and driving low shots across the goalkeeper, which made him very dangerous whenever his team won the ball and countered quickly.

Ahmed Musa

Ahmed Musa scored 6 goals and relied on sharp movement and timing rather than only raw speed, making diagonal runs from the wing into central spaces and finishing calmly, especially in tough away matches.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman has 5 goals and adds close control and smart decision making, using body feints to create room and curling accurate shots to the far post, and because he is still playing regularly in Europe, he could climb higher on the list.

Nwankwo Kanu

Nwankwo Kanu also has 5 goals and brought intelligence and technique to Champions League nights, using soft touches, disguised passes, and patience to help his teams create good chances even when he was not the one scoring.

Shola Ameobi

Shola Ameobi scored 3 goals for Newcastle United and was a reliable target man who held the ball, won aerial duels, linked play for midfield runners, and finished chances from cut-backs when they arrived.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho scored 2 goals for Manchester City and showed natural striker instincts by finding small pockets of space in crowded boxes, keeping his head up under pressure, and finishing first time. And with more minutes, he could have added many more.
