Tinubu Administration Spends N569 Million on Renovation of Vice President’s Quarters
Public spending records show that the Nigerian presidency, under President Bola Tinubu, paid ₦569 million for renovation work on the Vice President’s official residence at the Aso Villa.
The payment was made through the Office of the Chief of Staff and was sent to Dederi Investment Limited on September 15, 2025, according to the expenditure record referenced in the report.
The entry described the payment as an extra cost for ongoing work already happening at the Vice President’s quarters. It was listed as an “additional payment” for Phase II of the renovation project.
This expense is part of a wider pattern of renovation spending inside the Presidential Villa. Earlier budget checks of the 2025 federal spending plan indicated that the government allocated ₦5.4 billion for the renovation of the Presidential Villa during the 2025 fiscal year, under the State House headquarters section of the budget.
The spending is drawing attention because it is happening at a time when the country is dealing with tough economic conditions. Nigeria is facing rising public debt, weak revenue growth, and heavier pressure on government finances, which has made public spending choices more sensitive to public scrutiny.
Public data also suggests similar spending happened in the previous year. In May 2024, records indicate that the administration spent ₦3.6 billion on rehabilitation and renovation of residential buildings inside the Presidential Villa.
During the same month, another ₦8.5 billion was spent on providing and constructing office buildings within the Villa. Combined, those May 2024 projects came to ₦12.1 billion.
Beyond the ₦569 million already paid for the Vice President’s quarters, the 2025 budget documents also show more renovation-related provisions connected to the Vice President’s facilities. The documents include ₦298.3 million earmarked for renovation of the Vice President’s guest house. They also list a planned ₦466.8 million for another round of renovation work on the Vice President’s quarters.
