Top 5 Apps Nigerians Download in 2024
Despite the internet penetration 0f about 45 percent, Nigerians still download 100 apps actively from February to May. Among the digital widgets, a fintech app tops the list of others, including those of social media. Guarantee Trust Bank’s app has the least users’ download.
According to Similar Webs ranking, among the top five are:

1)Opay
Opay is one of the leading fintechs in Nigeria, and it has more than 500,000 agents alone. That’s besides clients using the apps for transactions. The app downloads hit 900,000 in April alone.
Going by users’ experience, Opay has over 500,000 reviews on Google Play. And on Apple, 36,oo0 plus users have reviewed it.
2)Facebook Lite
The social media app download figure has reached 29 million so far this year in Nigeria. On Google Playstore, the reviews have climbed up to 26 million.
3)WhatsApp Messenger
No fewer than 2 billion people use WhatsApp across the world. Of that Nigerians have 51 million downloads—not necessarily users—making it the top tenth in the world. Statista projected about 11 million Nigerians will download the app annually in Nigeria till 2029. WhatsApp Valuation Reached $105.6 billion in 2022.
4)WhatsApp Business
Globally, 1.3 people use WhatsApp Business. The only indication on the ranking website put the business app ranks at No. 4 in Nigeria. No figure to confirm the exact number of downloads or users for now.
5)Telegram
Over 800 million have downloaded Telegram around the world. The figure will hit 1.5 billion in 2024. Over 8 million have downloaded the app so far in Nigeria.
With 103 million accessing the internet, chances are high the top five apps will get more downloads. At least from Lagos which boasts about 19 million internet users.
