Top European Club on the Lookout for Lookman Ademola

The summer transfer window may have slammed shut across most of Europe, but Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is still making headlines.

The Atalanta star, who has grown into one of the most feared attackers in Serie A over the past three seasons, finds himself in the middle of transfer drama that refuses to die down.

Galatasaray Waiting in the Wings

Turkish champions Galatasaray are reportedly monitoring Lookman’s situation closely. Unlike the major European leagues, the Turkish Super Lig transfer window remains open until September 12, leaving the door wide open for a late swoop.

The Istanbul giants are believed to be weighing up a move similar to the one that brought Victor Osimhen from Napoli, using the final stretch of their window to strike while other clubs can no longer buy.

Lookman’s future in Italy has looked shaky for weeks. He handed in a transfer request after Atalanta rejected a €45 million offer from Inter Milan, sparking public frustration from the Nigerian international.

The 27-year-old accused his club of failing to honour promises about his exit and has since been training alone while waiting for clarity on his next move.

Bayern’s Failed Gamble

Lookman’s situation has also attracted interest from Germany. Bayern Munich, still searching for attacking reinforcements after missing out on Werder Bremen’s Nick Woltemade and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, reportedly made a late push for the Nigerian winger.

Their bid included a loan deal with an option to buy, but Atalanta quickly turned it down, unwilling to lose one of their most consistent performers on those terms.

The issue with Atalanta

For Atalanta, the situation is tricky. Lookman has been one of their standout players, yet his desire to leave has created friction.

Club CEO Luca Percassi has confirmed that the winger submitted a formal request, but with the Italian transfer window already closed, their options are limited.

They can only sell to clubs in leagues where business is still active, making Galatasaray’s late interest all the more significant.

What you should know

Galatasaray’s move would not be without precedent. The Turkish giants have developed a knack for exploiting the final days of their window, often luring top talent after bigger leagues shut down their markets.

If they succeed with Lookman, it could be another masterstroke in their transfer strategy, much like their previous deals that shook the European scene.

For now, Ademola Lookman’s future hangs in the balance. Whether he remains in Bergamo under strained conditions or heads for a fresh challenge in Turkey will be decided in the coming days. However, the fact remains that European clubs are still very much on the lookout for Nigeria’s in-demand forward.
