US Excludes UK and Nigeria From 2025 Visa Waiver Program
The United States has updated its Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for 2025, releasing a list of countries whose citizens are eligible for visa-free travel.
Notably, the UK, Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana do not feature on the list, reflecting new policy changes concerning eligibility for travel privileges.
The US Department of State announced that the 2025 update aims to streamline the process for millions around the globe, facilitating easier access for business, tourism, and transit visits to the US.
This revision includes 40 countries, with Romania being the latest addition. However, Taiwan and the United Kingdom have certain conditions to meet to remain eligible. The program allows for visa-free visits to the US for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes, provided travelers obtain approval via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before their trip.
Changes in the 2025 VWP also focus on enhanced security measures and the selection of countries with strong diplomatic relationships and secure borders.
Romania’s inclusion marks an update, yet Romania, Taiwan, and the UK face exclusion from the broader US visa and interview waiver for 2025.
