The budget aims to improve several key areas that are crucial for Nigeria’s growth and stability.

The president has pointed out that the 2025 budget will focus on improving defense and security, education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure.

These areas are considered vital for the nation’s development in the coming year.

1. Defense and Security

The budget assigns 4.91 trillion Naira to defense and security to tackle the ongoing issues with insurgency and internal security threats. This funding is intended to provide the military and other security agencies with modern weapons and the necessary tools to protect the country’s borders and ensure peace within.

2. Agriculture

With the ongoing food security crisis and the rising cost of living, agriculture is given special attention to help revive this critical sector. The president has promised to support farmers with the funding and resources needed to increase agricultural production and address issues of food affordability and security.

3. Health

The health sector is allocated 2.48 trillion Naira, with plans for investment in health infrastructure and the Basic Health Care Fund. With 402 billion Naira set for infrastructure and 282.65 billion Naira for basic healthcare, the plan is to improve the availability of essential drugs and reduce the need to import medical supplies.

4. Education

The education sector receives 3.52 trillion Naira, with 826.90 billion Naira going towards improving educational infrastructure. This budget also supports the Universal Basic Education (UBEC) and other educational programs, showing the administration’s commitment to improving education.

5. Infrastructure

Infrastructure development is a key priority, with 4.06 trillion Naira allocated to various projects. Tinubu has promised that infrastructure development will be a focus in 2025.

He mentioned ongoing construction projects like the Lagos-Calabar highway and Sokoto-Badagry highway, which are expected to greatly improve transportation and boost economic activities.
