Why Did Tompolo Distance Himself From the Nnamdi Kanu Ultimatum Reports?

Ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, has denied issuing any ultimatum to the Federal Government concerning the detention of Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement circulated by his camp, Tompolo described the claim as a fabrication pushed by detractors and insisted he has no role in the agitation narratives being ascribed to him.

The clarification follows heightened online chatter suggesting he had set a deadline for Abuja to act on Kanu’s case.

Security watchers said the swift rebuttal was aimed at cooling temperatures in the Niger Delta and preventing misinterpretation that could unsettle oil-producing communities and critical infrastructure.

Local leaders urged the public to dismiss anonymous statements and rely on verified communications to avoid stoking needless tension.

Tompolo, currently associated with private pipeline surveillance and anti-oil-theft efforts, framed the episode as a smear tactic. Community groups echoed calls for restraint, noting that misinformation can quickly escalate into security risks.

With the rebuttal on record, attention shifts back to Abuja, where legal and political debates over Kanu’s detention continue to generate national conversation.
