Why I Put Juma Jux’s Face on My Chest”—Papaya Ex Clears the Air After Viral Wedding Outfit

The internet has been buzzing since Papaya Ex showed up at Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux’s traditional wedding in an outfit that had everyone asking the same question: “Why is Juma Jux’s face on your chest?”

The popular influencer turned heads—and sparked backlash—after wearing a custom dress with the groom’s face boldly placed over her left breast, while the bride’s picture sat at the side of her waist.

The moment caused a stir online, with many Nigerians calling the outfit disrespectful, extra, and inappropriate.

Even at the wedding, Priscilla jokingly confronted Papaya on the dance floor, saying:

“Why did you put my husband on your chest?” To which Papaya laughed and replied, “I’m sorry my love, you know I love you.”

But clearly, the internet wasn’t joking.

“Nigerians Just Like to Sexualize Everything” – Papaya Ex Responds

In a recent interview with content creator Egungun (Kuye Adegoke), Papaya finally addressed the controversy head-on.

When asked why she chose to put a man’s face right there, Papaya didn’t hold back:

“I feel like Nigerians are somehow. They sexualize everything. If I had put the picture lower, they would’ve still complained it’s near my coochie. You understand?”

She admitted she didn’t mean any harm by the design and actually felt bad when the placement was pointed out.

“When they told me, ‘Papaya, it’s supposed to be here,’ I felt really sorry. I even went to meet the wife—Priscilla—and told her, ‘You know I love you.

I would never do something disrespectful.’ And she was like, ‘It’s okay, I understand.’”

So… How Much Was the Dress?

You might not like the placement, but you can’t deny one thing—it was expensive.

When Egungun asked how much the outfit cost, Papaya casually replied:

“Like ₦4.5 million.”

And if that wasn’t enough shock for one interview, she also confirmed she’s now based in Dubai.
When asked about rent, she didn’t want to go into personal details but gave a hint:

“If you want to stay where I stay—because I stay in Downtown—it’s about ₦12 million per month.”

About the Wedding Everyone’s Still Talking About

#JP2025—the wedding between Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux—was a full-blown social media moment.

From their outfits to the guest list, and now even Papaya’s dress, the entire event has kept people talking for days.

Actress Iyabo Ojo, the bride’s mother, was reportedly skeptical of the relationship at first, but family friend Chioma Goodhair revealed that with some convincing (and long walks in London), Iyabo eventually gave her blessing—on one condition: “If he’s going to date my daughter, he better be ready to marry her.”

And clearly, he was.
