Why Igbo, Yoruba, Others Separation Could Be Nigeria’s Solution – Sunday Igboho
Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has reignited the debate about Nigeria’s unity, stating that separation may be the only way forward if the country continues to face unending challenges.
Speaking in a video that surfaced online recently, the Yoruba Nation advocate shared his thoughts while at an airport in the United Kingdom. His remarks shows the frustrations of many Nigerians who are grappling with corruption, insecurity, and economic hardship.
In his message, Igboho pointed out that many citizens no longer feel a sense of pride in identifying as Nigerians. “Even at the airport, there is no security. Your belongings can be stolen right out of your bag. Things like that make people ashamed to say they are Nigerians,” he lamented.
The activist emphasized that the current state of affairs is deeply disheartening and argued that if Nigeria cannot function as a unified nation, it might be better for ethnic groups like the Yoruba, Igbo, and others to forge their own paths.
A vision for the Yoruba Nation
Igboho passionately spoke about his vision for the Yoruba people, highlighting the potential of Yoruba youths who have gained experience and education abroad. According to him, these young individuals are eager to return home and use their knowledge to build a prosperous society.
“Our youths have seen how things are done in developed countries. They have learned a lot, and with their knowledge, they can transform Yoruba land into a place as advanced as Europe,” Igboho said.
He believes that, given the chance, the Yoruba Nation could become a shining example of what is possible when resources and governance align with the people’s needs.
The root of the problem
The separatist leader’s comments also talked on the big issues plaguing Nigeria. Corruption has eroded trust in institutions, while insecurity has left people feeling vulnerable in their own country.
Meanwhile, economic struggles have made daily life a challenge for many, further deepening the sense of disconnection from the nation.
For Igboho, these problems are not just inconveniences they are symptoms of a system that isn’t working. His call for separation reflects a desire for self-determination, where each ethnic group can take control of its future without being held back by systemic failures.
A divisive Debate
Sunday Igboho’s views are sure to spark intense debate. While some may see his call for separation as a necessary step toward progress, others may view it as a threat to Nigeria’s unity. Still, his message resonates with those who feel let down by the current system and dream of a better future.
Whether or not separation is the ultimate solution remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the frustrations voiced by Igboho reflect the growing demand for change. For him and many others, the question is no longer about staying united at all costs but about finding a way for everyone to thrive.
