Why Judge Obiora Stepped Down from Sen.Natasha’s Case Against Akpabio
Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has opted out of a lawsuit initiated by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others concerning her Senate investigation over alleged misconduct.
Citing accusations of bias from Akpabio, who is a defendant in the case, Justice Egwuatu declared his withdrawal from the proceedings. He made this decision public during a court session on Tuesday after allowing the lawyers involved to state their appearances.
Following his recusal, he announced that the case file would be returned to the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, for reassignment to another judge.
Further details are expected as the case progresses.
