Will Burna Boy, Tems, Asake, and Other Nigerian Artists Shine at the BET Awards?

This Sunday marks a significant night for Nigerian music as top Afrobeats artists, including the likes of Burna Boy, Tems, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Seyi Vibes, stand poised to battle it out with some of America’s music giants at the highly anticipated BET Awards. 

The gala, a celebration of black excellence in music, sports, and other fields of entertainment, promises glitz, glamour, and perhaps a few surprises.

Burna Boy, the self-acclaimed African giant, is not new to the limelight. Following his seventh album “I Told Them,” Burna Boy could snag another couple of awards to add to his already impressive collection. He’s nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, facing tough competition from icons like Chris Brown, Usher, and Drake.

Not to be overlooked, Asake finds himself in the mix for Best International Act, sharing the category with other global sensations such as Raye and Aya Nakamura. Seyi Vibez, another notable Nigerian talent, is vying for the Viewer’s Choice Best International Act, setting the stage for what could be a landmark night for Nigerian music.
