World Bank to Decide on Nigeria’s $1.65 Billion Loan Request

The Nigerian government is looking to get a $1.65 billion loan from the World Bank for three important development projects in 2025.

These projects are designed to help people who have had to leave their homes within Nigeria, focusing on improving education, nutrition, and health.

Details from the World Bank’s website show that the first project, called Solutions for the Internally Displaced and Host Communities Project, asks for $300 million and should be decided on by April 8, 2025. This project will try to improve education and nutrition for these displaced people.

The government said, “The loan will help provide the necessary support to improve education and deal with nutritional issues for displaced people.”

The second project, HOPE for Quality Basic Education for All, wants $553.8 million and expects an answer by March 20, 2025. It aims to make better education available to communities that don’t have enough resources.

The biggest project, called Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria 2.0, is requesting $800 million and will be considered on February 20, 2025.

This project is crucial as it focuses on improving nutrition, especially for people who are most at risk.

The government emphasized, “This funding is very important for Nigeria because it helps to greatly improve nutrition and education across the country.”

The World Bank will soon decide on these projects. If the loans are approved, they are expected to help Nigeria solve some big challenges and support the country’s long-term growth.
