Yahaya Bello Explains Why He Surrendered to EFCC
Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, has disclosed his reasons for voluntarily presenting himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). After previously declining several invitations from the anti-graft body, Bello decided to address the accusations of financial misconduct against him.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by his media office’s Director, Ohiare Michael, Bello’s surrender to the EFCC was motivated by his deep respect for the rule of law and his endorsement of President Tinubu’s anti-corruption campaign.
The statement explained, “The decision came following thorough discussions with his family, legal representatives, and political colleagues. Throughout the process, Bello has been committed to the principles of law and order and has actively engaged in legal proceedings to safeguard his rights and ensure fair treatment.”
It continued, “Having been properly represented by his legal team at all court hearings related to these issues, the former Governor feels it is now appropriate to respond to the EFCC’s summons to absolve himself of any wrongdoing, as he maintains his innocence and transparency.”
